It is with deep sadness and respect that ENVEA announces the passing of its founder, François Gourdon, who died on 19 November 2024 aged 77 years old, in Ajaccio, Corsica.
François was a truly remarkable environmental visionary and founder of ENVEA, a company born from his passion for environmental protection and innovation. He established ENVEA in 1978 with a clear mission: to create cutting-edge technologies that help industries and governments monitor and reduce their environmental impact. He dedicated his career to making a tangible difference in how the world measures and manages environmental pollution. Under François’ leadership and vision, the company grew and became a well-established global leader in environmental technology with a presence in over 100 countries.

Beyond his professional achievements, François is remembered as someone deeply driven by the belief that technology can serve as a powerful tool to protect the planet. His legacy is reflected in ENVEA’s ongoing role in advancing environmental stewardship and innovation.
Known for his warm personality and dedication to his family and friends, he approached life with the same energy and purpose that defined his work, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Alongside the development of ENVEA, François was mayor of Villennes Sur Seine for 25 years, and much appreciated by his fellow citizens and who invested a great deal in the development of his community.
A multi-talented man, he was also Chairman of the Association Entreprises & Passions in Poissy, a board member of the Yacht Club de France, and Chairman of Comité 21 for several years. He gradually stepped down as Chairman of ENVEA but remained Co-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ENVEA Global.
