SAMAY has a 593-megawatt cold reserve power plant in the southern coastal region of Peru, which is a key component of the power energy plan of the Peruvian government for the south of the country, in the region of Arequipa.

The Challenge

The plant operators were looking to replace two large gas analyzers for continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) to meet the new national protocol. The plant has four gas turbines, each with existing CEMS measurement instruments. Measurements required include NOx, SO2, CO and O2.

The Solution

Meeting the measurement criteria and parameters, the MIR9000e is very small and smart, ideal to replace the existing, aging instruments. Its highly accurate, stable, easy to use and maintain which makes it the ideal solution for this application.

The MIR9000e is an eco-designed, ultra-compact, smart and connected instrument, used to measure combustion exhaust gas in a range of applications including power generation and combustion, gas turbines, petrochemical plants and industrial boilers and furnaces.

It offers superior metrological performances for the simultaneous multi-gas measurement of NOx, SO2, CO, O2, residual H2O, CO2, CH4 and N2O (greenhouse gases).

The Results

The installation and commissioning was easy (replaced within two weeks) and the measurement quality has been fully approved after official control, displaying very accurate values.

A spokesperson from SAMAY said: “We worked closely with our partner, INSTRUMENTS LAB and the regional ENVEA team to make sure the customer needs were met in a very easy and efficient way. The customer is already looking to install additional ENVEA instruments including an opacimeter. ”

Moving forward, SAMAY has ordered further systems for installation in Q2 2025.
