To provide unprecedented insights into local air quality at a travel destination, Airmodus, part of ENVEA Group, has partnered with luxury wellness retreat, Octola Private Wilderness in Lapland – installing full coverage monitoring of their site with the Airmodus A30 Condensation Particle Counter.
Guests at the exclusive wellness retreat can find ultimate peace of mind with research-grade insights communicated to them directly through a user-friendly interface. The A30 CPC goes above and beyond typical air quality monitoring, capturing granular data on ultra-fine particles from as small as 10 nanometers in size.
On the decision to install such a powerful monitoring system, Octola founder, Janne Honkanen said:
“By measuring ultrafine particles – some of the smallest and most harmful air pollutants – we’re able to affirm the quality of our environment and share this reassurance with our guests in a meaningful, transparent way.”
This commitment to scientific-grade monitoring will extend to the company’s new expansion site, Octola II, scheduled to open this December. Guests at both resorts will have access to real-time data on local air quality during their stay.
The data captured by the A30 also underpins the launch of their bespoke wellness experience, Respiro Octola. Backed by such in-depth data, guests can be assured of optimal purity as they follow the programme of guided breathwork, ice swimming, yoga, and more in the crisp, clean air of the Arctic.
Monitoring as a proof-point of purity is only half the story. Honkanen also emphasised his drive to use the data to preserve the air quality of the retreat: “the purity of our air is something guests often describe as healing, almost otherworldly. With this monitoring in place, we can ensure we protect it and hold ourselves accountable to the highest possible standard.”
The installation has excited “ecotourists” and researchers alike. Mikko Sipilä, Professor of atmospheric sciences at University of Helsinki said, “it’s remarkable to see a travel destination take such initiative in supporting scientific research, collecting meaningful data, and bringing greater awareness and transparency to a topic that affects us all.”
