Challenge

Even minor fluctuations in moisture levels during processing can alter the flavour, leading to a less-than-perfect brew. Too much moisture, on the other hand, and you risk mould, potentially causing avoidable product losses. Proper drying is equally essential—over-dried beans sacrifice flavour, while under-dried beans can lead to inconsistencies, all the while wasting energy and resources.

 

Moisture measurement technologies play a vital role in coffee production. Understanding and being able to control moisture to the highest degree of accuracy allows manufacturers to produce the best quality beans according to their unique specifications. Solution

Following a site survey, we integrated the M-Sens into the manufacturer’s production process, installing the device onto a slide at the point where the coffee grains fall into the hopper. Real-time moisture monitoring allowed the team to make adjustments to levels that deviated from their strict parameters, ensuring a perfect result each time.
